About The Position

Harris Beach Murtha is seeking an associate to join its collaborative Business Litigation team in NYC or Boston. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators across offices and practice areas, engage in sophisticated commercial disputes, and take on meaningful responsibility representing clients in state and federal courts, as well as in mediation and arbitration proceedings. The work is fast-paced, team-oriented, and provides hands-on experience managing complex business litigation matters from inception through resolution.

Requirements

• Admission to New York or Massachusetts bar (required)
• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school (required)
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• The ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information
• A high level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility
• A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude

Nice To Haves

• Admission to Connecticut bar (preferred)
• Federal or state judicial clerkship experience (preferred)
• Military experience welcome

Responsibilities

• Represent our clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
• Take and defend depositions
• Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys about strategies
• Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, etc.
• Examination of records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations as to potential client claims
• Commitment to working in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to our clients
