About The Position

Are you an accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Fiscal Services team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst works independently and is responsible for performing the more complex professional fiscal duties related to government cost funds, including the more complex funds accounts and records for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). Other duties include maintaining fiscal records, preparing all types of accounts and records of financial transactions, and the preparation of the yearend reports. The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare. In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam. Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and government accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with federal funds management, including Federal Trust Fund accounts and reporting requirements.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) including financial modeling, and data analysis tools
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, and federal stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
