This position will provide engineering, supervisory and administrative services necessary to support: 1) the day-to-day operation and facilities of the Adaptive Equipment Shop and technical personnel, 2) adaptive product design and application and 3) research and development of promising engineering concepts. Clinically, this position requires the application of engineering principles and state-of-the-art technology to problem-solve countless barriers that exist for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Design responsibilities will include, but not be limited to wheelchair design and customization, adaptive seating design or modifications to maximize health, comfort, independence and travel; resident safety equipment as related to customized helmets, protective garments and environmental protections within living, educational and vocational environments. The Adaptive Equipment Shop supervisory activities may include scheduling, purchasing, training, safety reviews, performance reviews, equipment reviews, etc. Additional administrative duties may include collaboration with the campus engineer, technical personnel, design systems and documentation, materials and acquisition management and various project management activities. Considerable project collaboration with other professional departments and staff such as Medical, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Direct Care is necessary to produce successful outcomes. This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
