Plans, organizes and directs the Security, Maintenance, Barber shop, Food Services, Mailroom and laundry programs. Serves as full line supervisor. Serves as Chair of Adjustment committee. Travels to various locations to attend management meetings, trainings and to speak to lay and professional groups regarding the institution programs. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology or a related field.
  • Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization, a correctional facility or related field.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification card and the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
  • Requires the ability to work overtime and duty administrative office hours.
  • Requires the ability to be on-call.
  • Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and or other medical standards set out by the employer.
