Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Relevant ship experience is preferred
  • Good level of English language
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a food preparation/service position in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention banqueting service (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret documents such as recipes and manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, tips, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Passionate about hospitality.
  • Professional appearance and good hygiene.
  • Respect for all co-workers and guests.
  • Pride in your work demonstrated by creating positive energy, excitement and fun.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Restaurant Waiters in all duties of the dining room service operation.
  • Serve beverages from the menu and sell mineral (sparkling and still) water at assigned station in the dining room.
  • Refill bread and butter and serve salad dressing at assigned table when needed.
  • Clear dirty dishes when guests have finished each course. After food service, send silverware, plates, cups and utensils for washing, and polish the glasses.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of their serving station / tables.
  • Ensure that assigned uniforms are cleaned and pressed.
  • Responsible for the equipment issued by the Assistant Maitre D (coffee pots, water jugs, salad serving tongs, locking chain, serving tray).
  • Responsible for dining room equipment, items issued to waiters, and miscellaneous items, as per dining room manager’s instructions.
  • Maintains a good working relationship and open communication with all the team.
  • Follow service procedures set by the restaurant manager.
  • Follow safety, environmental and USPH procedures.
  • Attend all department meetings.
  • Responsible for their area’s safety, cleanliness and operation.
  • Mandatory attendance at all assigned shipboard drills and emergency activities.
  • Create and implement ideas that will generate/increase revenue and/or reduce costs for the company.
