The Mathematics Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics to begin on September 1, 2026. This is a two-year initial appointment with the possibility of renewal. The responsibilities include teaching 24 units of introductory math courses per academic year, advising majors, and participating in university activities such as math assessments, curriculum development, admissions events, and student success initiatives. The candidate must have a proven record of teaching core courses, including elementary statistics, discrete mathematics, single- and multi-variable calculus, and differential equations, to a diverse group of science and engineering students. The successful applicant should hold a doctoral degree in mathematical sciences, a related field, or mathematics education, along with evidence of a strong commitment to college-level teaching, excellent communication skills, a dedication to teaching excellence, and authorization to work in the U.S. full-time. Preference will be given to applicants with experience using technology in teaching, such as computer algebra systems like Mathematica and MATLAB, as well as other software for teaching mathematics, like R and Python. Experience with online education and course management systems will also be considered an advantage.
