Requirements

  • PhD or DVM required, DVM is the preferred degree for this position

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in curriculum design and assessment related to a professional degree program.
  • Experience teaching anatomy is strongly preferred (e.g., veterinary, comparative, or human).
  • Other teaching experiences could include histology, physiology, neuroscience or pharmacology.
  • Experience or willingness to use Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, Kaltura, Tophat, and Google suite is helpful.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and facilitating active and blended learning techniques is beneficial.
  • The successful applicant will be approachable, work well within a teaching team, and will be enthusiastic about teaching first-year veterinary students.
  • Commitment to engage in the scholarship of learning and teaching through publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction (5%)
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance (55%)
  • Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study (5%)
  • Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit (5%)
  • Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations (15%)
  • Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction (10%)
  • Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline (5%)
