About The Position

The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting beginning Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure-track teaching position with a renewable three-year term. This position is a strategic addition to the faculty of the Lubin School of Accounting, designed to strengthen the Whitman School's ability to meet student demand across a range of high-impact accounting courses. The primary emphasis of the position is to teach analytics, technology and information systems within accounting. It would be beneficial to fill the position with someone who can potentially teach financial and managerial accounting as needed. The successful candidate will help ensure continuity in required courses while contributing new ideas and expertise in emerging areas that enhance student career preparation and CPA readiness. A passion for teaching and student success is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching in accounting and/or information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and analytics into accounting education.

Nice To Haves

  • A demonstrated passion for teaching and student success.
  • Having a Ph.D. in Accounting, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline would be a bonus.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CISA, or equivalent) consistent with the desired skill set.
  • Prior teaching experience in accounting analytics, data visualization, or emerging technologies would be preferred.
  • Relevant professional or industry experience linking technology and accounting practice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a seven-course annual load across undergraduate and graduate levels (typically three in one semester and four in the other).
  • Deliver engaging instruction in Accounting Information Systems (ACC 425/625) and Information Technology for Business (MIS 325/625), and potentially in other areas such as cost accounting, data analytics, financial accounting, or technology-enhanced applications.
  • Develop and deliver CPA-relevant content and support initiatives that link accounting theory, analytics, and professional practice.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to innovate the accounting curriculum, integrating analytics, data visualization, and technology-driven solutions.
  • Passionately engage in student mentoring and advising, and student support.
  • Participate in departmental and school service, and contribute to Whitman's mission of experiential, career-ready education.
