About The Position

To provide instruction and workouts that will prepare the participants for their individual needs such as competition, fitness, etc. The Rays Swim Team is searching for a part time coach that will assist in the development and coaching of the swim team under the competitive swimming guidelines. Some meet attendance will be required. This will be paid hourly with the rate being determined by experience.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1 year - 3 years
  • Education: High School or equivalent (GED)
  • Current YMCA or ARC lifeguard certification (obtain YMCA within 6 months or first available class) or YASA
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current AED certification
  • Current Oxygen certification
  • Proficient in swimming and safety skills.
  • Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to staff, volunteers, YMCA members, program participants and the general public.
  • Ability to relate with pool patrons in a positive manner.
  • Must be professional, alert, courteous, and tactful.
  • Must complete successful criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and teach the mission of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County which is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build health spirit, mind and body for all.
  • Provide constant feedback to participants to facilitate improvement. Effectively design and plan a workout curriculum for all levels.
  • Set up the facility and equipment, and store the equipment upon completion.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Enforce aquatic center rules and policies by maintaining constant surveillance of participants.
  • Immediately notify a supervisor of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool.
  • Understand how to utilize all necessary equipment as related to the program.
  • Establish and maintain good and positive communication with supervisor, participants, and parents.
  • Actively participate in maintaining certifications and obtaining further/advance certifications.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and act in a professional manner when interacting with patrons, program participants, and other staff, at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
