About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the Packing and Shipping Department in a manufacturing environment. This role works closely with the department Supervisor to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient packing, labeling, and shipping of goods. The Assistant Supervisor provides leadership to the team, helps maintain workflow, ensures safety and quality standards are met, and steps in for the Supervisor when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in a warehouse, packing, or shipping environment; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse procedures, inventory systems, and shipping platforms (e.g., FedEx, UPS, freight).
  • Ability to lead by example, communicate clearly, and motivate team members.
  • Proficient in basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, ERP/WMS software).
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating daily packing and shipping activities to meet production and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure that all shipments are packed accurately, labeled properly, and meet customer and company standards.
  • Provide direction, training, and support to team members on processes, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Monitor team performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide feedback or escalate to Supervisor as necessary.
  • Help manage inventory of packing materials and shipping supplies.
  • Assist in ensuring that all documentation (packing slips, shipping labels, BOLs) is completed and processed correctly.
  • Identify workflow issues or bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
  • Support compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
  • Fill in for the Supervisor during absences or when required.
  • Participate in audits, cycle counts, and shipping/receiving inspections as needed.
  • Foster a positive, productive, and respectful work environment.
