About The Position

Techno is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support field operations on a major wastewater infrastructure upgrade program in Staten Island. This role is part of a critical capital improvement effort focused on modernizing essential treatment systems within an active facility. You will work alongside senior field leadership to help oversee construction activities, maintain quality standards, and ensure coordination across multiple trades in a highly regulated environment. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving real-time challenges, and contributing to complex infrastructure projects that directly impact public systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 3–7 years of experience in construction inspection, field engineering, or construction management
  • Experience working on water, wastewater, or utility infrastructure projects preferred
  • Familiarity with treatment plant systems, mechanical equipment, or process infrastructure is a plus
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in an active construction environment
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience on NYCDEP projects or familiarity with NYCDEP standards, procedures, and capital programs is a strong plus
  • EIT preferred; PE a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day oversight of construction activities across civil, mechanical, and utility scopes
  • Perform field inspections to verify work aligns with contract documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Monitor contractor performance, sequencing, and coordination within an active facility
  • Document site progress through daily reports, photos, and detailed field logs
  • Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings, providing practical field input
  • Track installed quantities and support progress payment verification
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to address field conditions and issues
  • Maintain organized records including inspection reports, correspondence, and project documentation
  • Support enforcement of safety requirements, environmental controls, and permit compliance
  • Assist with system testing, punch list development, and project closeout activities
