About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful execution of outdoor living projects, including patios, pergolas, patio covers, outdoor kitchens, and related exterior improvements. This role focuses on field coordination, material logistics, quality control, and customer-facing problem solving to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, transport, and deliver materials to job sites according to schedules established by the Project Manager
  • Verify all material deliveries for accuracy, quantities, specifications, and damage upon arrival, and immediately report discrepancies or issues
  • Perform light punch list and field work, including: Wall plates, blocking, and minor framing components Small paint, stain, and touch-up work Installation of fixtures, lighting, fans, and hardware Staining and sealing lumber Insulation installation where applicable Assembly of outdoor kitchen and job-site equipment Job-site cleanup, trash pickup, and haul-offs
  • Maintain clean, organized job sites, company trucks, trailers, and storage bays
  • Provide regular job updates, photos, and documentation to the Project Manager
  • Adapt to fast-paced, changing job conditions and shifting priorities
  • Make limited, field-level decisions regarding customer requests or minor design adjustments that do not affect pricing or scope
  • Set and reinforce subcontractor expectations through leadership, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and job-site workmanship
  • Maintain maintenance logs for vehicles, trailers, and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor customer issues, including: Electrical and lighting locations Finish-out details Retrieving paint, stain, and material codes Verifying shingle, metal, or finish colors
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of outdoor construction materials and terminology, including: Smart Board, fascia, soffit Rafters, joists, purlins, hips, valleys Decking, beams, posts, and hardware systems
  • Perform on-site verifications such as measurements, elevations, and square footage using a tape measure
  • Assist with quality control by identifying deficiencies, incomplete work, or errors and reporting them to the Project Manager
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for mistakes, document issues, and relay back-charge information to the Project Manager
  • Maintain professionalism and a calm demeanor during customer concerns or discrepancies
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 lbs
  • Work extended hours as required, including evenings or after-hours work on short notice
  • Remain on site until assigned tasks or job phases are complete
  • Demonstrate strong time management, organization, and task prioritization
  • Assist with layout verification for patios, pergolas, patio covers, and outdoor kitchens
  • Confirm footing locations, post spacing, beam sizing, and roof tie-in points per plans
  • Assist with inspection readiness and site access coordination
  • Monitor weather impacts and communicate delays or schedule risks
  • Support final walkthroughs and project close-out processes
  • Serve as a professional on-site contact when the Project Manager is unavailable
