The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Drama invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Devised Theater and Directing. We seek an artist-educator with a robust practice in devised theatre, ensemble-based creation and directing for the stage. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative theatre-maker with a demonstrated commitment to experimental processes, inclusive storytelling in the tradition of companies The Open Theatre, The Living Theatre, The Wooster Group, and others. They should be a process driven, community-building artist who values student voice, agency, and ensemble dynamics as they will be working in a conservatory, practice-based environment that emphasizes both rigor and radical imagination. This position is designed for an artist who can engage with students as creators and guide them in the development of original work, classical and contemporary directing practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
