About The Position

San Francisco State University, College of Ethnic Studies offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in one of the five departments including Africana Studies, American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies, Latina/o Studies and Race and Resistance Studies beginning August 2026. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests are on the intersections of race, ethnicity and disability. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic departments in the College of Ethnic Studies. The College of Ethnic Studies has 110 faculty members, 30-degree programs and over 8,000 students enrolled each semester. The successful candidate may choose their home department within the College of Ethnic Studies including these departments: Africana Studies, American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies, Latina/o Studies, or Race and Resistance Studies. The position focuses on the intersections of race, ethnicity, and disability.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.F.A, or equivalent terminal degree in relevant field. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
  • Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students

Responsibilities

  • The position requires undergraduate teaching in the intersections of race, ethnicity and disability
  • Mentoring and advising undergraduate students
  • Developing an active ongoing scholarship program or program of creative work on the intersections of race, ethnicity and disability
  • Ongoing committee and service assignments.
