About The Position

The Division of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a motivated, doctoral-level (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.D.) speech-language pathologist to serve as a core faculty member in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. The anticipated start date is August 2026. ABD candidates with anticipated degree by August 2026 will be considered. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical speech-language pathology (pediatrics and/or adults) and demonstrate commitment to excellence in graduate education, research/scholarship, and service. The candidate will provide clinical services at MUSC Health approximately one day per week and must hold ASHA’s Certificate of Competence (CCC-SLP) and be eligible for state licensure in South Carolina. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and instruction Deliver high-quality instruction in the SLP program across in-person and remote learning environments, as aligned with areas of expertise
  • Collaborate with SLP faculty, the student services coordinator, and other college, university and community partners to ensure a high-quality educational experience
  • Contribute to a dynamic, active-learning educational environment that integrates didactic and clinical training
  • Research and scholarship Develop and sustain a focused scholarly agenda (clinical, translational, and/or basic science research)
  • Disseminate scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Pursue and secure extramural funding to support an active research program
  • Service Participate in academic service, including student advising and committee work
  • Engage in professional and community service activities consistent with faculty expectations
  • Clinical practice Provide clinical services within MUSC Health approximately one day per week
  • Collaborate with clinical partners to support teaching, training, and research initiatives
  • Supervise current SLP graduate students
