About The Position

This full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Social Work Program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester. As this is a small program, the ability to teach a variety of courses across the social work curriculum is expected. Compensation is based upon qualifications, including both education and experience.

Requirements

  • An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is required.
  • A doctorate or ABD with degree in hand on date of appointment is required.
  • At least 2 years post MSW full time experience in professional social work practice is required.
  • Eligibility for Social Work licensure at a graduate level is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education is required.
  • Flexibility to teach all courses in BSW curriculum is required.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations and ability to contribute to the Department and the University’s commitments to inclusivity, equity, and social justice is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD/DSW in social work is strongly preferred.
  • Post MSW practice experience with policy, communities, and organizations or other macro settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability teaching BSW students with a variety of learner focused methodologies, reflecting high impact teaching practice is preferred.
  • Utilization of technology that enhances teaching and learning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses across the BSW curriculum suited to experience and expertise.
  • Supervise field placements as Faculty Liaison including facilitating/teaching weekly SOWK 472 Field Instruction sessions.
  • Advise students and mentor undergraduate research and creative activities.
  • Engage in research, scholarly, or creative activity that supports University programs.
  • Actively participate in committee work, as well as curriculum, professional development, and service to external stakeholders.
