About The Position

Emory & Henry University invites nominations and applications for an Open Rank Clinical or Tenure-Track (Assistant, Associate, or Full) Professor in our CAPTE accredited DPT program. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment with a preferred start date of May 1, 2026 or earlier. The Department of Physical Therapy, housed within the School of Health Sciences, also includes programs in occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, nursing, exercise science, and clinical mental health counseling. The School of Health Sciences is located in Marion, VA, 20 miles northeast of the flagship campus in Emory, VA. The 15-acre Health Sciences Campus is designed to promote inter-professional education and faculty collaboration across the School's academic programs. The educational facilities include multiple classrooms and clinical skills labs, a technology enhanced cadaver lab, several research labs, an applied physiology lab, pediatrics lab, ADL lab, and a clinical simulation lab with both high fidelity manikins and standardized patient exam rooms. The Health Sciences Campus includes several community outreach programs including a Falls Prevention Center and the Mel Leaman Free Clinic at Emory & Henry University. These entities provide clinical and research opportunities for students and faculty.

Requirements

  • Expertise in the areas of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Required candidate qualifications include a terminal doctoral degree or progress towards completion of a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D, DSc)
  • Applicants with a DPT degree will also be considered, but those applicants must have continuing education in the areas of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Eligibility for Virginia physical therapy licensure (for candidates who are PTs only)
  • Evidence of an established or developing scholarly agenda, and previous teaching and clinical experience

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced clinical certifications or completion of a clinical residency or fellowship and teaching experience in a CAPTE accredited program are preferred, but not required.
