A teaching load of 5 course sections (15 credit hours) per semester is expected. Teaching may involve traditional, online, and hybrid formats. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include supervision of student interns and service to the college, university, and profession. The College of Health Sciences (https://www.memphis.edu/healthsciences/) offers the B.S. degree in Health Studies with concentrations in Health Sciences; Dietetics; Exercise, Sport & Movement Sciences; and Healthcare Leadership; as well as the B.S.Ed. degree in Physical Education Teacher Education. The college also offers the M.S. degree in Health Studies with concentrations in Exercise Nutrition, Exercise, Sport & Movement Sciences; Lifestyle Medicine; and Physical Education Teacher Education. A second M.S. degree is offered in Nutrition with concentrations in Clinical Nutrition; Environmental Nutrition; and Nutrition Science. There are approximately 1600 undergraduate and graduate majors within CHS. The University of Memphis is recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research 1 Institution, one of only three in the state of TN. It has a diverse population of approximately 20,000 students including approximately 4,000 graduate students. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The position is a full-time, nontenure track academic-year appointment. The University offers an excellent benefits package, and the state of Tennessee has no state income tax. Memphis and the surrounding areas maintain a very low cost of living relative to most parts of the country. The anticipated start date of employment is August 17, 2026.
