About The Position

The West Virginia University Reed School of Media and Communications seek a dynamic, collegial faculty member for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment. Primary teaching assignments may include public relations writing, ADPR research, ADPR campaigns (capstone projects), and/or teaching in/leading the School's student-run ADPR agency. Teaching assignments may include other courses related to the successful candidate's areas of expertise and needs of the School. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to engage with the School's active, award-winning PRSSA chapter, which holds one of the nine original 1968 charters. Active participation in professional organizations in the field is expected, and the successful candidate will participate in and contribute to the School, serve on committees, and engage in the university and professional communities. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in communications, advertising, strategic communications, integrated marketing communications or closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of, or strong potential for, establishing and maintaining a scholarly research agenda.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience in public relations at the college level.
  • Applicants will have a developing record of scholarly (peer reviewed, juried) research in public relations and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
