NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN POSITION DESCRIPTION/VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate interior design courses in two or more of the following areas: manual and computer-aided drafting, graphics, advanced studio, sustainable design, or construction methods; advise undergraduate students; participate in program development and maintenance; develop and maintain liaisons with members of the profession and industry; and participate in university and public service. Demonstrate collaboration within the department and program, as exhibited by the ability to share ideas, work cooperatively, and participate in shared decision making. Program: North Dakota State University offers a BS and BA in interior design. Accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, the interior design program is offered in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design, located in the School of Design, Architecture, and Art in the College of Arts and Sciences. The program serves approximately 130 interior design students with three full-time faculty and 2 part-time faculty Work Schedule: Faculty Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice of Interior Design nine-month appointment Effective: August 16, 2026 Hiring Range: $60,000+ DOE, Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in interior design or closely related field or equivalent professional experience. Teaching and/or professional experience in interior design. Potential for student advising and curriculum development. Effective oral/written communication skills, leadership skills, and computer/technology skills. Demonstrate collegiality. Professional membership and demonstrated involvement in ASID, IIDA, IDEC, or other organizations. Preferred Qualifications: M.S. in interior design or closely related field NCIDQ certification. Teaching experience and evidence of scholarly competence and research and/or the ability to obtain external funding.
