About The Position

The Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Political Science beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will be a generalist specializing in U.S. Politics and Pre-Law. This position requires excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and includes participation in departmental assessment, student recruitment and retention, and university committee work.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Political Science (ABD considered with evidence of near completion).
• Specialization in U.S. Politics and Pre-Law.
• Demonstrated potential for effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Pre-Law Teaching and Advising is strongly preferred.
• Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and campus community.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 3/4 load (three courses one semester, four the next), including introductory courses such as American Government and advanced undergraduate courses in U.S. Politics and Pre-Law.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students, including serving as faculty advisor to student organizations.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including committees, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and scholarly research in the field of Political Science.
• Contribute to the assessment of departmental learning outcomes and curriculum improvement efforts.
