About The Position

The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, invites applications from well-qualified individuals for one full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations. We are seeking to hire a candidate who specializes in topics related to international security, conflict processes, or human rights. The position will commence in fall 2026. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations and the undergraduate culminating experience course, in which students complete a research project of their own design. Ideal candidates will also have a demonstrated ability to contribute to the department’s course offerings in political methodology at the undergraduate or graduate level. Other responsibilities include engaging in research leading to scholarly, peer-reviewed publications; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and providing appropriate levels of service at the department, college, and university levels. The potential to obtain research funding will be considered a plus. The department is interested in candidates whose research, teaching, or service experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to creating an inclusive environment in higher education. The department offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Political Science.

Requirements

  • This position requires an earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Candidates are expected to have some teaching experience, evidence of research productivity, and the ability to develop a research agenda resulting in publications in high quality outlets
  • Candidates MUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
