About The Position

The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Music. This is a joint appointment with the Department of Theatre and Dance. Appointment begins August 2026. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Departments of Music and Theatre & Dance are highly active units in the School of the Arts, Media & Communication. Construction of a new music/theatre/dance/arts building began in May of 2024 and completion is expected in Spring of 2027. Requirements

  • A completed Doctoral degree in Music by the time of appointment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct choirs and direct musical theatre singers and instrumentalists.
  • Evidence of the ability to be a successful teacher, scholar, performer, and congenial colleague.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and recruiting for the choir program
  • Serving as music director for one musical theatre production per academic year
  • Teaching other music and musical theatre-related courses based on candidate’s strengths and departmental needs
  • Work within a team-oriented departmental culture
  • Undertake other duties according to the needs of the department
