The Department of Mathematics within the College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering at CSU Bakersfield is committed to academic and inclusive excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering (NSME) consists of eight departments. With millions of dollars in federal grants and scholarships, state-of-the-art facilities, outstanding faculty, and brand-new degree programs, NSME is on the cutting edge of science and technology education to empower the Kern County economy. The Department of Mathematics offers B.S. degrees in Pure and in Applied Mathematics, in Teaching Mathematics, and in Statistics. It is a student-focused department that prides itself on discussion-based learning, on its commitment to student learning and to undergraduate research. We have generous computer lab facilities for our students, as well as a new Artificial Intelligence Learning Hub. The standard teaching duties at CSUB are 12 units/semester. Almost all courses in the Department of Mathematics are 4 units including a discussion/problem solving session. A reduced teaching assignment is standard during the first two years of the tenure process. It is expected the successful candidate will develop a research agenda and maintain a publication record.
