About The Position
The School of Language and Literature ( SLL ) at the University of Central Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Japanese to start in August 2024. The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment. SLL at UCA houses degree programs in Chinese, English, French, linguistics, Spanish, and TESOL . SLL is home, too, to more than 400 majors or minors. Currently, SLL offers introductory and intermediate undergraduate courses in Japanese language and culture. We also home a thriving Japanese Club for undergraduates. We hope that this hire positions SLL to expand its Japanese offerings into a minor in the near term and a major in the longer term. Likewise, we hope that the hire positions SLL to better support UCA’s strong interdisciplinary minor in Asian Studies.
