About The Position

The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of South Florida in Tampa invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction to begin August 7, 2026. The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at USF has more than 100 students pursuing an undergraduate major, concentration, or 1 of 2 minors; a core of 8 full-time faculty in the department; and 70 allied and affiliate faculty across the university. We have a graduate program that offers a master’s degree and a graduate certificate and employs 8-10 teaching assistants/year. One of the oldest women’s studies departments in the country, WGSS at USF was the first public university in Florida to offer a BA degree. For more information, visit usf.edu/wgss . Responsibilities This is a teaching position with some expectations of service. There is no required research assignment. The teaching load is typically 4-4.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender, and/or Sexuality Studies
  • Ability to teach a diverse student population

Nice To Haves

  • Specialization in postsocialist and/or queer methodologies and analysis including transnational solidarity politics
  • Experience/interest in program administration and public programming
  • Demonstrate a record of effective teaching of WGSS courses face-to-face and online using decolonial, queer, and/or intersectional feminist pedagogies

Responsibilities

  • Teach WGSS undergraduate introductory, core, and elective courses in the Women's and Gender Studies major and minor as well as in the Queer and Sexuality Studies minor
  • Train and mentor graduate teaching assistants
