About The Position

The Division of Liberal Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) invites applications for a full-time undergraduate faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2026, in the Humanities. We are particularly interested in candidates who could offer humanities courses that focus on: Cultural, Global, Environmental, Religious, or Science/Technology Studies, or Arts Entrepreneurship. We seek a colleague with a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education, whose research and teaching will enrich our four-course interdisciplinary core curriculum and other course offerings. Discipline and field are open. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Humanities or a closely related field by the contract start date
  • Teaching experience
  • A record or demonstrated potential for creative, scholarly, or professional achievement
  • An ability to think across disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to divisional and institutional service
  • An ability to design courses relevant to students of the fine and performing arts

  • Demonstrating an enthusiasm for teaching in an arts-oriented environment
  • Developing courses
  • Teaching courses within our core curriculum
  • Participating in academic advising, faculty meetings, retreats, and committees
  • Engaging in the development of new and existing programs
  • Continued research/creative work within the professional area of study
  • Attending to all duties associated with a full-time faculty appointment as deemed necessary by the Dean and as described in the UNCSA Faculty Manual
