The College of Natural Resources (CNR) has a full-time (9-month), tenure-track, academic-year teaching position available in the Fisheries and Water Resources Discipline. The position will be focused on teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate students in the Fisheries and Water Resources Discipline. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses mainly to support the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences option, which has approximately 130 students each year. Potential courses include Techniques in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries Management, Fisheries Research, and a team-taught introductory course in Fisheries, Forestry, and Wildlife. There is the potential to teach other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load for full-time faculty is equivalent to 12 credits per semester. Teaching at least three weeks during the summer with the College’s Summer Field Experience (at the Treehaven Field Station or elsewhere) or participating in the International Field Experiences in Natural Resources Management for additional compensation is required. Faculty members are expected to accomplish a record of scholarly achievement in their field of interest to complement teaching responsibilities and contribute to college, university, and/or professional service needs. Opportunities exist for involvement in research (undergraduate and graduate), outreach, and international programs to meet the University scholarship and service requirements. Department: The Fisheries and Water Resources Discipline is in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (www.uwsp.edu/cnr/). It has approximately 1,585 undergraduates, 50 graduate students, and over 120 faculty and staff. The Fisheries and Water Resources Discipline is currently home to the Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit (USGS), the Aquatic Biomonitoring Laboratory, the Center for Watershed Science and Education, and several joint research efforts with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, including the Fisheries Analysis Center. The College supports premier undergraduate natural resource programs with disciplines in Fisheries and Water Resources, Forestry, Environment and Society, Soil and Waste Resources, Wildlife Ecology, and the Department of Paper Science and Chemical Engineering.
