About The Position

This faculty position at the University of Miami emphasizes clinical practice (75%), with additional responsibilities in administration (15%), teaching, and scholarship (10%). The faculty member will primarily provide clinical services within the Department of Physical Therapy and affiliated clinical sites while contributing to the educational mission of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Administrative duties will support clinical operations, program development, and departmental initiatives, particularly in oncology rehabilitation. The position also includes limited engagement in scholarly and research activities to promote evidence-based practice and professional growth. The faculty member will collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Physical Therapy and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to advance excellence in clinical care, education, and service.

Requirements

  • Entry-level physical therapy degree (DPT or equivalent).
  • Eligible for physical therapy licensure in Florida.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice and experience in a university-affiliated clinical setting.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring DPT students in academic or clinical environments.
  • Evidence of participation in scholarly or quality improvement activities.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, or ScD) in a field relevant to physical therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy services within university-affiliated clinics or designated clinical settings.
  • Supervise and mentor DPT students during clinical experiences to ensure skill development and professional competence.
  • Contribute to the integration of current best practices into clinical education and patient care.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, productivity standards, and compliance with all clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participate in interprofessional collaboration and promote quality improvement initiatives in clinical practice.
  • Assist in oncology rehabilitation program management, including scheduling, workflow optimization, and coordination of clinical staff and students.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and quality assurance activities within the clinical and academic programs related to oncology rehabilitation and oncology content in the curriculum.
  • Support accreditation, compliance, and program assessment efforts.
  • Represent the department in relevant committees, meetings, and professional service roles related to oncology rehabilitation as assigned by the Department Chair.
  • Teach selected lectures, labs, or seminars in the DPT curriculum, particularly in areas of clinical expertise (e.g., Clinical Decision Making, Neuroscience, or Clinical Skills).
  • Serve as a clinical instructor or mentor for student clinicians, emphasizing the application of theory to practice.
  • Support curricular and program development through collaboration with academic faculty.
  • Engage in educational and scholarly activities such as clinical case reports, outcomes assessment, or collaborative research projects.
  • Disseminate educational and clinical scholarship findings through presentations, publications, or continuing education activities.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to the advancement of the physical therapy profession.
