About The Position

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a tenure-track faculty position in Biology. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology or a closely-related discipline.
  • Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education.
  • Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.
  • Successful teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in coastal and marine ecology.
  • Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.
  • Recent experience teaching college-level courses in biology.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate research.
  • Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach a variety of courses in biology, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and Environmental Science majors.
  • Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.
  • Engagement in professional development, service, and scholarship activities.
  • Some online teaching may be required, as needed.
  • Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.
  • Academic advising, mentoring, and career counseling.
  • Commitment to high-impact educational practices.
