About The Position

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a tenure-track faculty position in Biology. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Biology or a closely-related discipline.
Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education.
Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.
Successful teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

Expertise in coastal and marine ecology.
Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.
Recent experience teaching college-level courses in biology.
Experience mentoring undergraduate research.
Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.

Responsibilities

Develop and teach a variety of courses in biology, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and Environmental Science majors.
Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.
Engagement in professional development, service, and scholarship activities.
Some online teaching may be required, as needed.
Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.
Academic advising, mentoring, and career counseling.
Commitment to high-impact educational practices.
