About The Position

The Division of Science and Mathematics at Eureka College invites applications for a full-time position in Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2026. The successful candidate will teach 24 credits annually, along with assisting in advising biology, clinical lab science, and pre-professional majors and occasionally mentoring senior thesis projects as part of the college’s Honors Program. The biology faculty may be required to participate in the college’s interdisciplinary programs including first year seminar or 10 Essentials (general education) science courses at Eureka College. This position has the potential to be offered as a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor position (with the potential for becoming tenure-track) if degree qualifications and/or preferred experience are not met on day one. Requirements

PhD in Biology or related field, doctoral degree, or ABD with the requirements for the PhD completed by the appointment time of August 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

Teach 12 credit hours each semester (24 credits per academic year) of undergraduate coursework in mathematics.
Serve on college committees.
Participate in faculty governance (monthly meetings).
Supervise undergraduate honors theses & research (as needed).
Help in the recruiting process of future/prospective students.
Propose innovations to the Biology program at Eureka College to meet the demands of the current job market and student interests.
