About The Position

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts seeks a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our program as an Assistant Professor of Biology with expertise in biomedical sciences, biotechnology, or related disciplines. This full-time, non-tenure-track, 9-month appointment will begin in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Experience teaching biology courses at the undergraduate level (lecture + lab).
  • Ability to operate biological laboratory instrumentation and oversee student use.
  • Ability to attract and retain new students.
  • Ability to teach general science courses required.
  • Ability to serve as a capstone research advisor for undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities will include didactic and laboratory instruction in various biology courses (molecular, genetics, microbiology, evolutionary etc.) and may include other areas of disciplinary expertise.
  • Successful candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, serving as a champion for the biology program through positive interaction with prospective students and the public.
  • The candidate must have the ability to teach other general science courses that align with the candidate’s field of expertise.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in school and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.
  • Student mentoring, academic advising at the undergraduate level, and new course development to support the dynamic and growing area is required.
  • Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to collegiality and teamwork.
  • Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the curricula offered within the School of Health Sciences.
