About The Position

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients with rheumatologic conditions in both inpatient and consultative settings. This faculty member will serve in a clinical educator role with responsibility for the education and supervision of Rheumatology fellows, residents, and medical students. The position includes providing consultative services for patients managed by other faculty across KU Medical Center and contributing to clinical, educational, and research initiatives aligned with divisional priorities and areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • Education: MD/DO or equivalent. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Board Certified in Medicine
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Rheumatology

Responsibilities

  • Provide Excellent Clinical Care
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with rheumatologic diseases.
  • Provide inpatient and consultative services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in divisional clinical coverage as assigned.
  • Education and Supervision
  • Teach and supervise Rheumatology fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Provide bedside teaching and formal didactic instruction.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and contribute to curriculum development as appropriate.
  • Serve as a clinical role model and mentor.
  • Research and Scholarly Activity
  • Initiate and participate in clinical research projects.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities, quality improvement initiatives, and divisional academic efforts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research and educational endeavors.
