About The Position

The Department of Educational Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking applicants for two (2) academic year (9-month) tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor with the start date of August 2026. We encourage applications of qualified teacher educators with expertise in Curriculum and Instruction. Come join a community of teacher/scholars committed to student success. Under general supervision of the department chair, successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline. In addition, faculty provide service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually, with shortlisted candidates invited to campus.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in curriculum and instruction, elementary education or related field. ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: foundations of education, curriculum and Instruction, middle-level education, science education, math education, or social studies education
  • Licensure in elementary and middle level (K-8) education
  • Teaching experience in U.S. K-8 or comparable schools that adds up to at least three years

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in middle level pedagogy
  • Certification in special education
  • Supervision of education majors and/or pre-service teachers
  • Experience teaching and working in linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse settings
