About The Position

The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the Principal in providing school-wide leadership and performing administrative and supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal and helping students achieve the fullest benefits from all academic and non-academic programs, services, and opportunities of the school.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher’s and administrator’s license with appropriate endorsements
  • Administrative or supervisory experience and certification in accordance with state law and State Board Rules and Regulations, based on the minimum of a master’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Principal in the absence of the regular Principal
  • Assists the Principal in the implementation, supervision, and assessment of the total school instructional program
  • Assists the Principal in the selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of staff
  • Assists the Principal in the supervision of student conduct and extra-curricular activities
  • Assists the Principal with teacher evaluations and classified evaluations
  • Assists the Principal in the coordination of programs and services supplementary to the instructional program
  • Works closely with the counseling department and school psychologist in assisting with student problems
  • Observes teaching methods and examines learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and teaching techniques, and to determine areas where improvement is needed
  • Collaborates with teachers to develop and maintain curriculum standards, develop mission statements, and set performance goals, and objectives
  • Evaluates curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization, and to ensure that school activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Plans and leads professional development activities for teachers, administrators, and support staff, as assigned by the Principal
  • Performs administrative activities
  • Makes decisions and solves problems
  • Resolves conflicts and negotiates with others
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal
