About The Position

Wildwood School, a part of Wildwood Programs, provides a comprehensive educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders, and developmental disabilities to prepare them to be as independent as possible; Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests. A school administrator who embraces our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” The Successful candidate will enjoy working collaboratively with their team to set the overall direction of the school and provide leadership and supervision of the educational program in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent; and five years teaching experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NYS Certification in Special Education or related discipline and NYS Certification in School Administration are required.
  • NYS Certification in School Administration includes: School Administration and Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA)
  • Word processing, E-mail and database software, apple and Google suite programs.
  • A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
  • Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes deescalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.

Responsibilities

  • Conveys the vision, strategic direction, and goals of Wildwood School to staff, students, families, and school districts.
  • Works collaboratively with school administrators to establish continuity of programming throughout the entire school.
  • Responsible for oversight of the educational program for assigned classrooms.
  • Supervises assigned classroom teachers and special area teachers (Adapted Physical Education, Art, Music, Transition Readiness) including performance appraisals and professional development plans.
  • Confers with assigned classroom teams, Instructional Coaches, special area teachers, related service providers (Speech, OT, PT, SW, Behavior Specialists, Transition Specialists) and students’ families to ensure holistic programming for students.
  • Ensures that all student assessments including standardized, formative, summative, and NYSAA are completed.
  • Leads assigned teachers in developing and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students in assigned classrooms using benchmarks, assessments and data to inform instruction.
