Position Overview Promesa Academy is seeking a collaborative, strategic, and visionary Assistant Principal of Instruction to serve as an instructional leader on our K–5 campus. This individual will support teachers in delivering rigorous, engaging, and equitable instruction rooted in best practices and aligned with Promesa’s mission. The Assistant Principal of Instruction (API) will coach educators, lead professional learning, guide data-driven instructional systems, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning across classrooms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Previous experience in teaching and/or instructional coaching
  • Strong understanding of effective instructional practices and data-driven decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and coach adults with empathy, clarity, and high expectations

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2–3 years of leadership experience (e.g., Instructional Coach, Dean, AP, Grade-Level Lead)
  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • Knowledge of EL Education, High Tech High, or similar student-centered frameworks
  • Experience in an elementary school setting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing instructional coaching and feedback to teachers to strengthen practice and improve student outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of curriculum, assessments, and instructional frameworks across grade levels.
  • Support teachers in creating joyful, student-centered, and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Analyze campus-wide data to identify trends, drive instructional decision-making, and support targeted interventions.
  • Plan and facilitate high-quality professional development aligned with school priorities and staff needs.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to develop systems, structures, and expectations that promote academic excellence and whole-child learning.
  • Support the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for academics and behavior.
  • Partner with families and the community to foster strong relationships and ensure transparency regarding student learning and progress.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and supporting instructional staff.
  • Serve as a key member of the campus leadership team, contributing to school culture, operations, and long-term strategic planning.
