About The Position

Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell (“WTO”) was established in 1998 and currently numbers more than 100 lawyers. The firm represents sophisticated clients in high-stakes civil trials, appeals, and related litigation ranging from complex commercial to class actions to catastrophic torts. WTO lawyers have taken more than 1,100 trials and, arbitrations to verdict or award and hundreds of appeals to opinion in 45 states and Washington D.C., with exceptional results for our clients Summary/Objective Assistant Paralegals on our litigation team will get hands on experience. We are looking for people with strong organizational and time management skills, who want to eventually be able to manage a complex case load from start to finish. A strong technology aptitude is key to this role.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • 1–2 years of prior litigation and/or professional office experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certificate is preferred but not required.
  • 1–2 years of prior litigation and/or professional office experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining case management systems in accordance with firm guidelines
  • Analyzing case documents to prepare subset compilations and indices for attorney review 
  • Preparing exhibits and binders for depositions and trials
  • Drafting correspondence and professional email distributions
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings and depositions
  • Assisting with collection and production of documents
  • Maintaining litigation databases and providing database search support
  • Conducting fact gathering research and assembling background information
  • Organizing client files and preparing working notebooks
  • Coordinating with his/her team to meet internal and client timeline requirements
