About The Position

Carlow University is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for an Assistant or Associate rank , dependent upon qualifications, in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program. This is a nine-month academic appointment to begin in August 2026 on the Oakland campus in Pittsburgh, Pa. The primary responsibilities of this role are teaching undergraduate social work courses, advising students, and assisting with course, curricula, and program development. Additional duties of service and scholarship are expected. The ideal candidate will be a scholar-practitioner whose work, teaching, and scholarship are grounded in trauma-informed practices, and who is committed to exercising cultural humility and envisioning the future of liberal arts education in a rapidly changing environment. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in social work or DSW and an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Minimum of two years full-time post-MSW practice experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience teaching in higher education that includes demonstrated experience with online synchronous and asynchronous teaching to diverse populations.
  • Ability to use instructional technologies (Content Management System/LMS; Microsoft Office applications) in support of student learning and professional collaboration.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary course development, scholarship, and collaboration with other university programs and community partners.
  • Experience with CSWE national standards and accreditation requirements.
  • State social work license (LSW or LCSW) is required.
