The University of St. Thomas, a NCAA Division I institution and proud member of CCHA, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to serve as the Assistant Coach for the Men’s Ice Hockey program. The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of the program, including on-ice coaching, player development, recruitment, academic support, video analysis, and administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of relevant coaching and/or playing experience which must have been at the Junior Hockey Level or a Division I institution
  • Experience to include recruiting experience and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience recruiting in the USHL or CHL
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
  • A DMV background check is required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes domestically and internationally.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with recruits, families, and club/high school coaches.
  • Coordinate recruiting visits and adhere to NCAA compliance guidelines.
  • Student-athlete development and mentorship Assist in the planning and execution of practices and game strategies.
  • Provide individual skill instruction and feedback to student-athletes.
  • Support strength and conditioning efforts in collaboration with performance staff.
  • Administrative Assist with daily administrative duties for all aspects of the program.
  • Contribute to the management and requesting of program annual operating budget.
  • Review and evaluate practice and game video and prepare scouting reports.
  • Team building, game and practice planning Assist with organizing, administering, and supporting team building, practice planning, and game planning.
  • Preparations involving video breakdown and analysis.
  • Maintain practice records in accordance with NCAA and conference guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by head coach.
