General SummaryLead salary team members involved in automotive manufacturing operations. Develop broad understanding and application of the automotive industry standards and continually strive for improvements and excellence in all facets of the business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer and control practices in the area of safety, human relations, quality, cost, organization, and delivery targets for engineers for new model process development. Execute and implement quality activities in compliance with company goals as well as developing suppliers to remain in compliance. Build and maintain good working relationships with Team Members and Management. Initiate and complete reports tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other administrative tasks as required. Drive continuous improvement activities (Process, Facilities, Man, and Materials). Communicate solutions while improving the quality level to both internal and external customers in an effective and efficient way for the inspection process. Manage special projects for production support activities. Participate in forecasting and forward planning activities. Assist in the training and development of Measurement Engineers and Specialists including producing training material and curriculum schedule. Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure Measurement standards are maintained including allocating job duties of engineers while out or on special projects.  Manage the body data accuracy and improvement activities including daily checks of measuring machine, gap and flush of assembled body and fit check with Aperture gauge while analyzing the data for improvements. Analyze auto checking machine data and provide an improvement plan. Communicate quality scores, urgent situations and body quality reports to the manager regularly.  Develop and maintain the work plan for the Measurement section. Produce inspection materials of body quality for new vehicles. Conduct customer audit meeting reviewing body quality weekly and follow up on improvement activities. Attend vehicle customer audit meetings and apply knowledge to improve body defects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field along with five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in the body and welding part quality inspection field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong problem solving, technical, planning, organizational and decision-making skills and experience in the area of quality control in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexible schedule to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience in operating and programming CMM along with other measurement equipment. (LECIA, FARO, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Advance degrees in business management or related field would be a plus.
  • BMS and Six Sigma quality training experience desired.
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
