Requirements

  • Minimum of four years supervisory experience in petrochemical, power generation or heavy industrial construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups is essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively verbally communicate directions to craft supervisors and respond to questions from clients, managers and fellow workers.
  • Ability to calculate manpower needs and review numerical, statistical data.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance.
  • Lifting up to 50 Lbs. is required.
  • Vision must be clear at close and distance with depth perception and the ability to focus.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A combination of college level or continuing education in construction technology, and/or engineering related curricula plus 10 years experience preferred.
  • The required levels of the Supervisors Academy must be completed within 90 days of hire or promotion to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, departments, or other contractors.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, cost and schedule.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, constructability problems, etc.) as required.
  • Assure total compliance with EEOC laws, rules and regulations. Report any infractions to management immediately.
  • Assist the Legal Department with Labor Relations and resolving disputes.
  • Requisition required manpower from the Craft Personnel and Training Department.
  • Assist the Craft Personnel and Training Department with training of craft personnel.
  • Monitor craft compliance with project safety process requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Manage craft composite hourly rate.
  • Manage craft productivity. (Experience Index or E/I)
  • Manage field change orders (FCO) and request for information (RFI)
