About The Position

Assistant Gift Shop Manager/Buyer Brand New Position! We are looking for an assistant buyer/manager that has the experience and adaptability to be successful in our 150+ year-old family business. This is a Full-time position that offers benefits, paid vacation and holidays and much more! Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: · Sort and manage Garden/Gift Shop inventory by having a clear understanding of store and customer needs. · Monitor inventory levels as well as slow movers and make plans for buying within budget (OTB) · Meet with vendor representatives, place weekly fill-in orders, special orders, etc. · Assist in creation, set-up and maintaining merchandise displays- garden, gift, patio, fountains, seasonal/holiday merchandise, and floor resets · Required travel to attend all seasonal buying shows in Atlanta annually. · Work festival and special events weekends as needed · Assist on the sales floor · Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous retail buying experience in applicable market space
  • Proven experience is visual merchandising
  • Proficient use of vendor-based order management sites (B2B websites)
  • Basic understanding of inventory management
  • Ability to follow a budget
  • Ability to read movement reports for gross margin and product availability
  • Data analysis and forecasting techniques
  • Aptitude in effective negotiating
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer skills- knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of purchasing software (Eagle) is an advantage
  • Attention to detail and effective time management skills
  • Minimum HS Diploma/GED
  • Ability to stand/sit 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach, lift, sit, stand, kneel, and bend, lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Adaptability to heat/humidity and cold temperatures (While in the store)
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. consistently

Nice To Haves

  • BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field is considered a plus
  • Computer skills- knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of purchasing software (Eagle) is an advantage
