About The Position

Under the direction of the Essentia Health Chief Legal Officer, is responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects in a variety of areas including contract administration, general corporate matters, tax exemption, stark, fraud and abuse, as well as corporate finance and business transactions. Drafts, reviews and participates in the negotiation of contracts, joint ventures and affiliations. Conducts legal research and provides counsel to members of management and various departments on legal, compliance and regulatory matters. Works with the Chief Legal Officer or other management team members on matters involving patient care, employment and other critical issues arising at Essentia Health’s various hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities. Assists Chief Legal Officer in workload management and administrative functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a law firm, corporate or public sector setting practicing corporate law, employment law, nonprofit / exempt organizations or general business law, with broad exposure to laws affecting contracts and health care operations.
  • Current Minnesota, Wisconsin or North Dakota Attorney’s license or eligibility for licensure.

  • Experience practicing law in a corporate setting for a healthcare organization, specifically supporting revenue cycle, payor relations, and administration and adjudication of appeals.
