AHS Assistant Forensics Coach
About The Position
Abilene High School is seeking an Assistant Forensics Coach for this upcoming season only. This is a temporary position that will be for this upcomign 2026 season only. The Assistant Forensics/Debate Coach supports the head coach in developing students’ competitive speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking skills. This position plays an important role in preparing students for high school forensics and debate competitions and ensuring a positive, organized, and supportive experience for all participants. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students, have an interest in speech and debate, and are willing to contribute to a positive and competitive program.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an understanding of high school forensics and debate formats, rules, and scoring procedures.
- Assist with planning and conducting practices focused on skill development and competition readiness.
- Transport and supervise students to and from competitions, which include weekend events.
- Support students at competitions by helping them stay organized, prepared, and focused throughout the day.
- Serve as a tournament judge when needed to fulfill competition requirements.
- Promote sportsmanship, responsibility, and teamwork in alignment with school and athletic department values.
