About The Position

The Phlebotomist is the Department’s primary support system and is responsible for procuring blood samples from patients, for preserving the integrity of specimens and for proper processing and preparation of all samples. Sample collection is performed on patients of all ages including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Additionally the Phlebotomist will provide computer receipt of specimens and various computer/clerical support.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma/GED preferred; college hours preferred
• Completion of a phlebotomy certification program preferred
• One year of demonstrated experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Procuring blood samples from patients
• Preserving the integrity of specimens
• Proper processing and preparation of all samples
• Sample collection is performed on patients of all ages including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• Provide computer receipt of specimens
• Provide various computer/clerical support
• Answering telephone inquiries from other departments of the facility
• Assisting with outpatients
