About The Position

Primarily responsible for managing and maintaining Pero Transport, LLC’s fleet in good operating condition so the company can meet its distribution objectives efficiently and cost-effectively. The Assistant Fleet Manager will be responsible for all records, maintenance, and equipment cost control. This position will be in constant communication with the Fleet Manager to advise him/her of equipment and personnel availability, and all fleet needs and repairs. Also work in collaboration with the Compliance department insuring the safe and effective management of Pero Transport’s fleet of trucks.

Requirements

  • Analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage personnel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and understand transportation software systems and technologies
  • Expertise in transportation equipment and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of all DOT, state, and federal requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy-diesel equipment and safety certifications and training
  • Participate in various workshops and educational programs to maintain knowledge on all industry regulations and rules

Responsibilities

  • Daily coordination of equipment and personnel availability to provide services (vehicle mechanical inspections, mechanical repairs, driver communication).
  • Assist in the administrative processing of paperwork required in the acquisition or disposal of equipment (i.e. title, registration, license, etc.)
  • Plans, organizes and directs equipment maintenance, repair, and disposal while continually updating and maintaining all equipment maintenance files.
  • Reviews equipment maintenance invoices to ensure that proper maintenance was performed.
  • Transports equipment as required in the acquisition and repair of vehicles.
  • Oversees the vehicle emissions program to comply with federal and state mandates.
  • Maintain a database of sales, registration, inspections, and maintenance of the fleet.
  • Monitor and ensure fleet operates in compliance with local and state rules and regulations.
  • Communicate and oversee proper addition of new equipment into the data management system TMT Software to ensure appropriate allocation of expenses to all equipment.
  • Provide direction and effectively communicate to the Fleet Manager of fleet replacements, requirements and needs.
  • Ensure fleet is properly filled (i.e. each truck has a qualified driver).
