About The Position

Brooklyn Community Board #3 represents the neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The Community Board office assists residents with municipal service delivery requests, community concerns and issues. We are looking to hire a Full-Time Assistant District Manager, to report for in-office work, available during business hours Monday – Friday – 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for five days a week for various assignments at the Community Board #3 Office. Requiring some night meetings. Must be able to attend monthly General Board Meetings and other Meetings and Events as assigned by the District Manager.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year of full-time experience in community work, public administration or planning or related fields, or public information or relations; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community conditions and lead the preparation of monthly status reports, manage business license and landmarks applications, and document and track constituent complaints from intake to resolution.
  • Assist the District Manager in supervising Board office staff and interns and managing office operations.
  • Conduct topical research on planning issues and other matters of concern to the Board and to the community
  • Prepare and update attendance reports and other reports as assigned.
  • Process invoices, input and purchase orders and entries in the city's Financial Management System (FMS) for further approval and assist in maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Support monthly meetings of the Board and its Committees, participating in all full Board meetings and in Committee meetings as needed, including evening meetings.
  • Develop relationships with community partners and foster collaborations to further the Board’s mission.
  • Represent the Board as needed at public meetings, hearings, and at working sessions with City agencies and elected officials.
  • Draft letters and resolutions in support of Board positions; draft meeting minutes, maintain communication among Board members, community members.
