About The Position

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities within the Salary Administration unit, which services all employee types (Faculty, Professional, Classified and all Part-time professional and wage employees). This position is responsible for the development and refinement of practices, policies and procedures pertaining to Salary Administration, implementing on-line systems regarding automated leave, time management and the I-9 process, Workday-Human Capital Management, and Data Reporting. The Salary Administration Assistant Director provides consultation and guidance to executive level leadership on complex personnel strategies, practices and employment dynamics, and HR standard operating procedures. This position will act as the primary subject matter expert for HR-related Personnel and Workday transactions. The Assistant Director will actively contribute to the optimization of HR processes within the HR department and in Workday related to transactions handled by Salary Administration. This position will additionally work closely with the Budget team and others across campus to track, manage, analyze, and report fiscal/budget data. Furthermore, the Assistant Director will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Talent Acquisition and Assistant Director of Benefits to ensure streamlined processes for new hires via Workday for Human Resources, while also completing any special assignments designated by the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and/or the Senior Associate Vice President/Chief HR Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-5 years of related experience.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working Knowledge of CSN, Federal, State of Nevada (NRS and NAC), Collective Bargaining Agreements, and NSHE employee related rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources Management including but not limited to payroll, leave, compensation, benefits and talent acquisition.
  • Working knowledge of USCIS form I-9 procedures and practices.
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of FLSA and other applicable federal legislation.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and establish timelines.
  • Supervision and training of employees.
  • Manage phases of multiple projects through their completion.
  • Work with a variety of databases and software programs to maintain data and generate reports.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a community college or post-secondary institution.
  • Experience working in an NSHE institution.
