Residential Student Services at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Director, Residential Education. The anticipated start date is January 5, 2026. Morehead State University is a mid-sized regional institution in eastern Kentucky with approximately 3000 beds across 15 residence halls with two additional residence halls currently under construction. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Director, Residential Education assists the Director of Housing and Residence Education with the overall administration of the residential program through functional assignments in housing operations and residence education. Functional assignments could change annually to best meet the needs of the Office of Student Housing and the professional development needs of the incumbent. Residential Education & Student Development Leads the design, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive Residential Education Model and curriculum aligned with institutional and departmental learning outcomes and mission. Oversee the development and coordination of First Year Village and other special interest housing groups on campus. Supports the integration of academic initiatives within the residential experience to promote student learning and personal development. Collaborates with campus partners to enhance retention, persistence, and student success through targeted residential programs. Leadership & Staff Development Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates Student Coordinators, Resident Assistants, and Senior Resident Assistants. Facilitates onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for student and professional staff. Conducts skills and needs assessments to tailor learning opportunities and improve staff competency and confidence. Supports leadership development through advising of Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH. Serves as a liaison to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH); coordinate student leadership conference participation. Crisis Management & Conduct Manages the Student Conduct process, serving as a Hearing Administrator for housing policy violation cases. Provides guidance to students and staff on University and Housing policies. Conducts proactive, educational conduct meetings that emphasize student learning, accountability, and development. Serves in the professional on-call duty rotation, offering after-hours crisis response and support to students and staff. Operational Management Coordinates with the Assistant Director for Housing Operations on opening and closing processes for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Assists in budget development and oversight for residential life staffing, programming, and operations. Reviews, updates, and enforce residential life policies and procedures through staff training and support. Strategic Planning & Assessment Develops and implements assessment strategies to evaluate educational outcomes, program effectiveness, and student engagement. Contributes to departmental strategic planning, including goal setting, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains and updates departmental training materials, lesson plans, curriculum maps, and program guides. Campus Collaboration & Departmental Engagement Collaborate with Admissions and New Student Orientation to support residential engagement during campus visit programs and onboarding. Coordinates summer camps and conferences in partnership with Event Services and Housing leadership. Maintains accurate and up-to-date content for the Residence Life section of the Housing & Residential Education website. Serves on departmental and university committees, including those related to technology, assessment, and strategic initiatives. Represents the university at institutional events, professional conferences, and within regional/national organizations. REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in student affairs, communications, or related field. Three to five years of progressive responsibility and successful experience in student housing or a related field. Demonstrate a clear understanding of student development theories and have the ability to apply the theories in practical situations. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate a strong client service orientation. Demonstrate computer proficiency with standard office applications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Colleague application. Experience using assessment related software. SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
